UVmap info on resolution

industry Standard UV resolutions seems to fail at ravensbourne .. Why am I not shocked

"Now, before creating a texture for the current ZTool or one of its SubTools, you can change the default size of the maps created by ZBrush for the Color map or the Displacement Map: four presets buttons have been added for the most common sizes: 512, 1024, 2048, 4096. You can also set a custom value up to 8192 by entering a numerical value or moving the UV Map Size slider." Pixologic

"I will be working in a texture size of 3000 by 3000.

If your just learning and practicing you do not really need to go this big, a texture size of 1000 by 1000 or 1500 by 1500 will be just fine there's just no need putting in extra detail when its not needed."

The smaller the map the lesser the detail , its pretty self explanatory, never exceed more than 4000 its unnecessary unless you have amazingly good equipment to work with or a really good render farm. I guess rave lacks both, despite saying otherwise . Cheers .

This is no one else’s fault but the incompetence of the university and it's obviously affecting other people and the render time (ergo affecting the film) as it’s causing more stress and unneeded work, as it’s already done !

Ravensbourne should clearly either stop this course or fund it better . The void between our departments and the standards of the Uni that the BBC are interested in is scandalous .
